Vice-Chairman Edwards has long advocated for the construction of “Chastain South” at the site of the former Olympic Shooting Facility at Wolf Creek, noting that there is more than ample interest in the South Fulton community to support a concert venue. In 2004, Commissioner Edwards and the Board of Commissioners agreed to fund a feasibility study for the amphitheater at this location.
This former Olympic venue, which was underutilized for several years, now houses the Public Safety Training Center. On nights and weekends, the facility has more than ample parking and space to hold concerts and other special events.
“Residents in this community would like to attend concerts in their own community instead of having to drive to Atlanta,” said Commissioner Edwards.
Construction began January of 2009. Updates will be provided on this site as they become available.
