South Fulton Breaks Ground for Wolf Creek Amphitheater
Fulton County Commission Vice Chairman William “Bill” Edwards, District 7, helps South Fulton residents break ground June 6, 2008 for a $6.1 million Wolf Creek Amphitheater at 3025 Merk Road off Camp Creek Parkway.
When the facility opens in mid-2010, it will have a covered stage and accommodate an audience of 5,000 in a blend of table, fixed-chair and lawn seating. It also will include restrooms, a kitchen, vendor booth facilities and an expanded parking lot. Located next to the Public Safety Training Center on the site of the popular MusicFest concert series hosted in 2002-2007 by Vice Chairman Edwards, the amphitheater will host concerts and a wide range of community, festival and family-friendly events. Among those attending the groundbreaking were Union City Councilmember Vince Williams, Palmetto City Councilman Lorraine Allen, former Fairburn City Councilmember, Frankie Arnold, County Manager Zachary Williams, Fulton County Arts Council Director Veronica Njoku, South Fulton Arts Council Representative Malinda Logan, Wolf Creek Advisory Committee Chair John Eaton, Committee members Sandra Hardy, Mike Simpson and Dorothy Harris, and senior advocate Helene S. Mills. |
